Our Wedding Story

By: Christine Flohr

Connor and Jensen agree that having their wedding take place in Wabash County was not only easy, but it was also remarkable. From finding the perfect wedding gown and suit to the wedding bouquet and reception location, their wedding was a memorable weekend in Wabash County.

One of the appeals of hosting a wedding in Wabash County is the opportunity to share the area with friends and family. That’s exactly why Connor and Jensen chose to say “I do” in their hometown. The community boasts two state parks, a world-class performing arts center, two Cook Cup award-winning historical properties, and a walkable downtown with charming boutiques and antique shopping.

“All the vendors we needed were in the same vicinity which is what made everything about our wedding and the days leading up to it enjoyable,” shared Jensen. “Having expert make-up artists and hair stylists, a premium bridal boutique, elevated florists, and award-winning reception spaces all collectively together allowed for extra time with our families and friends.

Selecting the fourth-floor ballroom of the Eagles Theatre as the reception location and using the local talents of Wooden Ivy Floral Boutique, the 1920s newly restored venue was all aglow with hundreds of white candles and fresh greenery.

“The area provides not just an experience for us as the bride and groom, but for all our guests,” Connor said. “Some of our guests had never been to Wabash County before.” The Sanctuary of Wabash Event Hub and the Charley Creek Inn offered unique and stunning lodging options for not only the bridal party but for out-of-town guests as well.

Visit Wabash County operates a vintage 34-passenger trolley that both Connor and Jensen booked to transport their wedding guests between venues and for those special wedding party photographs and moments. Featuring mahogany waterfall-bench seating, the brass-trimmed people mover adds an element of nostalgia and romance.

“Having our bridal party, rehearsal dinner, wedding, and reception in Wabash County were one of the ‘first’ important decisions we made together as a couple,” said Jensen. “We couldn’t be more pleased with how the entire weekend turned out.”

Whether your wedding planning taste is contemporary or classic, Wabash County offers a vast array of wedding venues, vendors, and amenities. Let Wabash County make your destination wedding memorable and magical.
