Four Years of Investing in Students and Strengthening Wabash County

By: Conner Hindman

The Wabash County Fellowship Program was built on a simple idea: invest in students today to strengthen our community tomorrow. As we enter our fourth year, that mission remains as important as ever.

Over the past three years, the Fellowship Program has connected talented college students with local employers through paid internships, free summer housing, professional development, and community involvement opportunities. More than just a summer job, the program gives students a chance to immerse themselves in Wabash County, build their network, and explore where their future might take them. As former fellow Jordyn Leininger puts it, “Saying yes to this program is saying yes to yourself.”

Of course, the program wouldn’t be possible without our incredible employer partners. Year after year, local organizations continue to open their doors, invest in young talent, and provide experiences that help students grow while making meaningful contributions to their teams. In the words of Matthew Purkey, President & CEO of Josiah White’s, “The perspective that these kids bring is so unique to our organization. We are better because of the fellows.”

Year four also brings an exciting new opportunity. For the first time, graduates of the Imagine Early program who graduated from a Wabash County high school, along with students attending Manchester University, will have access to an early application period. This early application opportunity reflects our commitment to developing local talent and creating pathways for students to build their future right here in Wabash County.

Whether you’re interested in healthcare, engineering, business, marketing, nonprofit work, or something in between, the Fellowship Program offers the chance to learn from experienced professionals, build meaningful connections, and discover how your talents can make a difference.

Applications are currently open for Imagine Early graduates who graduated from a Wabash County high school. Applications will open to Manchester University students on November 1st and to the general public on November 15th. One application could be the start of a career, a connection, or an opportunity that changes everything.
