Visit Wabash County Launches Destination Wabash County
By: Christine Flohr
Visit Wabash County has long been known for promoting tourism, events, and economic vitality in the region. Now, the organization has expanded its impact through the launch of Destination Wabash County, a new nonprofit extension designed to fuel community development, inspire investment, and support quality-of-life initiatives across the county.
A Nonprofit for Greater Opportunities
As a 501(c)(3), Destination Wabash County creates new opportunities to accept funding through grants, charitable contributions, and strategic partnerships. Its mission is to enhance both the visitor experience and local pride by supporting projects that improve public spaces, expand outdoor recreation, grow cultural programming, and build a more connected community.
“Beyond Tourism” – A Vision for Change
“This is about going beyond tourism,” says Christine Flohr, Executive Director of Visit Wabash County. “Destination Wabash County allows us to align our passion for place-making with the resources to make transformational change. It’s a way to invite others, foundations, donors, and everyday residents, to be part of that story.”
Current Initiatives and Long-Term Impact
Already, Destination Wabash County is supporting initiatives like the Wabash County Fellowship Program, Wabash County Weekends, trail development, creative placemaking, and expanded programming for families, artists, and entrepreneurs. It also serves as a vehicle for long-term investment in revitalization, public art, and talent attraction by leveraging the ThriveIN Wabash County podcast as the storytelling platform for the organization.
Building a Stronger, Connected Community
With a focus on collaboration, transparency, and sustainability, the nonprofit extension strengthens the work Visit Wabash County began and positions it for a bolder future. Whether it’s enhancing the experience of a visitor or enriching the life of a local resident, Destination Wabash County helps ensure that growth benefits everyone.
Shaping a Place to Belong
By launching this nonprofit, Visit Wabash County reaffirms its commitment to not just promoting Wabash County, but shaping it into a place where people want to live, work, visit, and belong.
