It’s More Than a Playground

From Empty Lot to Landmark

Before 2019, a quiet grassy lot west of the Wabash County YMCA sat waiting for purpose. Today, it bursts with color, laughter, and motion. That once-empty space is now Friendship Hill, a playground built by the community, for the community, where people of all ages and abilities come together to play, connect, and belong.

Where Everyone Can Play

Unlike traditional playgrounds, Friendship Hill was designed so that every child, and every caregiver, can join the fun. Smooth surfacing, accessible paths, and creative structures ensure that no one is left on the sidelines. Here, play isn’t limited or separated, it’s shared. Everyone can move, climb, and explore freely, side by side.

Friendship in Action

The heart of Friendship Hill lies in its name. It’s a place where new friendships bloom and differences fade away. By encouraging kids to play together, no matter their abilities, this inclusive playground helps future generations see one another for who they are, not what they can or cannot do.

A Ripple of Inclusion

Friendship Hill has done more than transform a vacant lot, it’s transformed the way our community thinks about inclusion. It’s inspired families, schools, and local leaders to look for new ways to make Wabash County a place where everyone feels welcome. Because in the end, Friendship Hill is more than a playground, it’s a movement.
