Lincoln Log Cabin
800 W Hill St, WabashOverview
The Lincoln Log Cabin was dedicated in the honor of Abraham Lincoln’s 100th birthday, during special ceremonies held September 1 & 2 1909. The cabin was originally built as a two story structure by John Corell, in 1848. Originally located 1 mile south of White’s Institute in Wabash County, the first level was destroyed in a storm in July 1873. Following the storm Josephus Morrison purchases the building and moved it to another location. On October the 14th, 1908 Clark Wessner purchases the cabin and the member of the Wabash County Pioneer Society began planning for it’s new home at the Wabash City Park. Using mostly original materials, William Dedrick reconstructed the cabin at the present site. Approximately three hundred dollars was raised from local businesses, organizations and individuals to help fun the reconstruction. Today the cabin serves as an office and meeting room.
