St. Paddy’s Golden Egg Hunt

NMPL’s Annual Egg Hunt is back! Kids of all ages will have a blast searching the nooks and crannies of the library building for hundreds of eggs stuffed with candy, small toys, and stickers. Keep an eye out for the special golden eggs hidden in tricky spots – lucky finders will win extra prizes!
To ensure a fair and exciting experience for everyone, we’ve designated separate hunting areas by age:
🐣 Ages 0–3: Chipper Chicks in the Playroom
🐣 Ages 4–8: Happy Horseshoes in the Children’s Department
🐣 Ages 9 & up: Clever Clovers in the Adult Department
Since egg hunts go quickly, we’re offering a fun, low-key way for early arrivals to settle in and ensure everyone is ready when the hunt begins. Gather the whole family and arrive by 9:15AM to watch “Hop” and enjoy free hot buttered popcorn in the Blocher Community Room.
The egg hunt will start at 10:00 AM sharp on Saturday morning – these egg hunts don’t last long, so don’t miss out on the fun!

Curious about felting – or already obsessed? Join us for a cozy evening with Rachel Kruger of Kruger Crafts as we dive into the wonderfully tactile art of needle felting! Felting is a relaxing, hands-on craft that uses special barbed needles to sculpt soft wool into charming, three-dimensional creations. And the best part? No prior experience is required.
In this guided class, participants will learn the basics of needle felting while creating an adorable felted chicken to take home. The process is soothing, creative, and incredibly satisfying as you watch wool transform into a finished piece right in your hands!
The $20 class fee includes all materials and instruction to make one large felted chicken. Want to customize your flock? Optional add-ons are available at registration:
• Add small felted chicks for $10 each
• Upgrade to an extra-large chicken kit for $15
Please let us know the size and quantity of the items you’d like to make when registering (please note: wool colors may vary). Registration and payment are required in person at the front desk.

Join us in front of the big screen in the Blocher Community Room for a virtual cooking experience! Purdue Extension HHS Educators will guide us through simple, budget-friendly, and delicious meals. Each session includes a guest speaker demonstrating hands-on cooking and explaining practical skills you can use at home.
For this session, educator Mindy will show us how to make a delicious Zucchini Stir-Fry. With lots of vegetables, this is the perfect dish to help us build our knife skills!

Has spring fever hit? Us too!
Bring your lunch to the library and enjoy a great session on gardening basics with Geoff Schortgen from Purdue Extension. He will focus on garden planning, planting, seed care, watering and other maintenance topics. There will be a wealth of information to help you get your garden off to the best possible start, including tips on soil health and composting to increase garden yield.
Participants will also receive helpful handouts to take home as well as time to ask questions and share their own gardening successes and failures.

We’ll be giving away highlighters, water bottle stickers, trading cards, posters, and even a cool 238-page puzzle book!

This week’s demonstration will feature a hearty Whole Wheat Pasta with Beans and Greens. Step into a world of magic and adventure with our Family Tabletop Tales, an interactive role-playing program designed for children and their families!
Join us every other Tuesday from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM to explore the whimsical worlds of Hero Kids and Little Game Masters. This program is perfect for beginners – simply grab one of our all-in-one kits and you’ll have everything you need to start playing immediately. We invite participating adults and teens to take the lead as “Game Masters” for their own family and friends, guiding their young heroes through epic quests of imagination.
While library staff will be on hand to offer guidance and help you learn the rules, the adventure is yours to create together! It’s a wonderful way to foster teamwork and creativity while embarking on unforgettable journeys as a family.

Join Jessi from Purdue Extension of Wabash County for a delicious lunchtime workshop all about building beautiful (and tasty!) charcuterie boards. Learn how to create boards that are both budget-friendly and seasonal, with tips for pairing flavors, balancing textures, and making spreads that work for everyday gatherings or special occasions.
Participants will assemble their own charcuterie board using provided small boards and a variety of food fixings – and will take their board home to use again for future entertaining!
