Homeschool Art: Mexican Folk Art

November 6 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Did you know this week celebrates the Mexican holiday, Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead)? At this special edition of Homeschool Art, Eduardo Pedroza will share how the holiday is celebrated in his hometown of Calientes, Mexico, giving participants a firsthand look at the traditions, symbols, and meaning behind this vibrant cultural observance.

After learning about the holiday, participants will create their own papel picado, a traditional Mexican folk art made by cutting intricate designs into colorful tissue paper. These decorative banners are a common sight during Día de los Muertos celebrations and are used to add color and beauty to homes, streets, and altars.

Join us for this opportunity to explore art, culture, and tradition through the eyes of someone who has experienced the celebration firsthand.
