Homeschool Math: Crazy 8s (K-2nd Grades)
Join Crazy 8s, a totally new kind of math club. You’ll get to build dazzling shapes with glowsticks, crack secret spy codes, toss and play with bouncy dice, and more! Each week is filled with get-up-and-move activities that will level up your math skills. There’s no grading or homework review – just fun with friends. We’re making math the cool thing to do!
The 9:30 am sessions are for:
• Kids in grades Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd
• Kids who can commit to showing up weekly for 8 weeks
Here are 3 reasons why your kid should join:
• It’s collaborative: Each week’s activity gets kids working together and moving around together so they can bond over math in a whole new way.
• It’s hands-on: Our high-energy activities explore the math behind kids’ favorite things like treasure hunts, card games, puzzles – even secret spy codes!
• It’s proven: Crazy 8s reduces kids’ math anxiety after only 8 weeks in the club and boosts their confidence in the classroom.
Weekly Sessions

Freshen up your home while learning a practical, eco-friendly life skill at this hands-on session of Homeschool Home Ec! Students will explore how everyday household cleaners work and discover how natural ingredients can be used to clean effectively while being kinder to the environment.
Participants will create two DIY cleaners to take home, starting with an All-Purpose Spruce Cleaner made from spruce branches macerated in vinegar – capturing the fresh, woodsy scent of the forest while providing a powerful, ecological cleaning solution. Students will also mix up an Essential Oil Kitchen Cleaner, learning how natural oils can be used to clean sinks, countertops, floors, windows, and more.
This program encourages sustainability, problem-solving, and independence while showing students how making cleaners at home can reduce plastic waste, save money, and support healthier living. Each participant will leave with their own personalized glass bottles of cleaners and the confidence to put their new skills to use at home.
All supplies are provided by the library. Come ready to mix, learn, and take home something truly useful!

Young chefs will roll up their sleeves and head into the kitchen for a fresh, flavorful cooking experience! In this hands-on Chefs on Wheels class, participants will learn how to prepare a bright and healthy tangerine pomegranate salad while building confidence with real kitchen skills.
Along the way, kids will explore citrus fruits up close, learning about the different parts of a tangerine and the many ways citrus peel can be used beyond the plate. We’ll talk about nutrition, including the importance of Vitamin C during the winter months, and practice safe food prep skills like peeling, sectioning, mixing, and measuring.
To wrap things up, participants will also learn how to make a ristra from the tangerine peels.
Note: We will be working with pomegranates, which may stain clothing. Please dress accordingly.
