Corn has been a staple of the human diet for thousands of years – but it wasn’t always as easy to eat as it is today! Children will learn how the Mayans processed corn into something edible. We’ll work together to make our own individual Tamale Pies and learn how to make adjustments if our dough is too sticky or too crumbly.

You may be familiar with jigsaw puzzles, chess and Sorry, but what about all those new board games on store shelves? What are those about? If all you know of board games is Candy Land, Monopoly and Connect 4, come to Game Night Chronicles to discover more options!
This adults-only program will teach participants how to play some of the new and exciting games from the library’s collection. Attendees will get a chance to play the game with others, ask questions, and connect with others in a fun and welcoming environment.
This month, we’re playing Incan Gold. Incan Gold is an award-winning game in which players push their luck as they head into a ruined temple, attempting to find the most jewels. Each turn, a card is turned over that increases the gold found in a temple or shows a hazard. Players can attempt to escape, keeping the loot that they’ve acquired, or stay in the temple, hoping for increased profits.
We hope you’ll join us!

Join us at the library for a magical musical journey with professional harpist Anna Hagen! She’ll be performing on two harps – the Celtic and Pedal Harp – whisking us away with melodies that capture the warmth, nostalgia, and sparkle of the holiday season. Her previous concert at NMPL was incredibly well attended, and patrons raved about the enchanting performance, so we anticipate another full house. This special holiday harp concert follows our Santa’s Workshop event, and the room is expected to fill quickly, so plan to arrive early. Doors will open at 2:45pm.
About Anna Hagen:
A lifelong musician and passionate performer, Anna Hagen has been sharing her love of the harp since the age of fourteen. She performs across the region at theaters, symphonies, community events, and more – using her harp (or often, her family of harps!) to inspire joy wherever she plays.
This program is made possible by the Davonne Rogers Lectureship Endowment. It is free and open to all. Come enjoy an unforgettable experience with your community!
