Celebrating 76 Seasons of Symphonic Sound

In October 2014, the Manchester Symphony Orchestra kicked off its 76th season with the concert, “Vive la France!”.
The concert celebrated French composers, and featured the work of guest artist Kelly Hornbarger, flute, performing the virtuosic piece “Fantasie Brillante from Carmen.”

The Manchester Symphony Orchestra serves Wabash County and the region. This tradition has its roots in its founding in 1939 by citizens of Wabash County and what was then Manchester College. That partnership continues today, with a carefully crafted collaboration of professional and community musicians, along with selected faculty, staff, and student musicians of Manchester University.

Scott Humphries, an assistant professor at Manchester University and director of instrumental studies and music education, conducts the Manchester Symphony Orchestra and MU Symphonic Band. He is also the principal conductor of the Fort Wayne Area Community Band.

This year, activities of the orchestra are supported by collaborations with the North Manchester Chamber of Commerce, the Economic Development Corporation of Wabash County, and the Honeywell Center.
