5 Reasons to Attend the Largest Chili Cook Off East of the Mississippi
The leaves are starting to fall, the air is cooler, and this weekend, the largest chili cook-off east of Mississippi, The Wabash Cannonball Chili for Charity Cook Off, will take over Paradise Spring Historical Park in Wabash, IN!
Need a reason to head out and enjoy the beautiful October weather this Saturday and sample enough chili to keep you full until Monday? Here are five:
1. Taste-Test Over a Hundred Varieties of Chili
For just $5 per person (cash only) at the entrance, you will get your hand stamped and a spoon that allows you to sample each contestant’s chili as you make your way through the Paradise Spring trail. Don’t worry, if you accidentally throw your spoon away, there are plenty back at the entrance. (I might be speaking from experience.)
2. Cooking (and Sampling) for a Cause
The Wabash Cannonball Chili for Charity Cook Off has donated over a half million dollars since its inception, and benefits many Wabash County organizations, such as Blessings in a Backpack, the Best of the Best Art Program, the Wabash County Cancer Society, and many more.
3. Your Vote Counts
As you enter, you will be given tickets to vote for your favorite chili in the People’s Choice category. We won’t judge if you need to take another lap around the booths to resample…picking a favorite IS hard work.
4. Best of Show
It’s not just about the chili: it’s about the theme! From costumes, to props, to flags made entirely out of chili-bean cans, every chili booth is based around a theme, and contestants take the Showmanship category to the next level.
5. A Chance to Win Amazing Prizes
If you haven’t pre-purchased your raffle tickets, you can still purchase your tickets at the entrance for a chance to win tickets to the Indy 500, a kayak, gift certificates for car detailing, wireless headphones, and many other fantastic prizes, thanks to local donors.
So grab your family and friends and head down to Paradise Spring Historical Park this Saturday, October 19th from 12pm-4pm to load up on chili, vote for your favorite(s), and support a great cause!
