Weed Wrangle Volunteer Workday

September 23, 2023 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

Weed Wrangle to be held on National Public Lands Day at Salamonie Lake.

Volunteer Workday: Public Invited!

Meet at Salamonie Lake’s Upper Wabash Interpretive Services, 3691 S. New Holland Rd. Andrews, IN.

Did you know native plants feed native insects, ultimately impacting all other Indiana wildlife? This is one reason we wrangle invasive weeds.

September 23 is National Public Lands Day, typically the largest volunteer day across the nation. Upper Wabash Invasives Network (UWIN) will be holding a Weed Wrangle at Salamonie Lake from 10 am to noon and encourage volunteers to participate.

Meet at 10 am at Salamonie Lake’s interpretive/nature center located in Lost Bridge West SRA.

Participants will learn invasive plant ID and be taught proper removal techniques.

Wear long sleeved shirts and closed-toe shoes. Bring work gloves, wide-brimmed hats, sunscreen, and bug spray. Have tools? Bring them! (No chainsaws, please.)

First 50 Volunteers working from 10 am – noon receive a UWIN T-shirt.
