DESCRIPTION:The Senior Luncheon will be held at noon\, July 3 at the Salamonie Lake Interpretive Center\, located in Lost Bridge West SRA. Anyone age 50 or older is welcome to attend. \nUpper Wabash Interpretive Staff celebrates America’s 250th year at the luncheon by presenting live native birds of prey from the Salamonie Raptor Center. Interpretive Naturalist Teresa Rody said\, “Our native birds of prey are one of the many success stories of our country’s care for the environment. Participants will get to see these birds up close and hear about other birds not in the care of the Salamonie Raptor Center\, such as bald eagles and osprey.” \nThe program begins with a carry-in meal at noon. Guests should bring a side dish to share\, a beverage\, and their table service. A main dish will be provided. A donation will be accepted to help defray costs. Seating is limited. DESCRIPTION:The event aims to provide a free\, family-friendly celebration of the Fourth of July\, with a unique focus on Hill Street. This street\, with its rich history and familiar buildings that many families in our county seek services at\, is a true gem in our community. The event features two main attractions\, starting with a charming children’s parade. So\, there are no floats or bands in this parade. The parade is made up of children (accompanied by parents) dressed in red\, white\, and blue. They and their parents decorate their bikes\, strollers\, wagons\, and even family pets. They then walk down two city blocks waving American flags while the community and businesses cheer them on. Once they have reached the end\, they enjoy a block party hosted by the companies on Hill Street and beyond.

DESCRIPTION:Described as “literary speed dating”\, NMPL Book Tastings will help adult readers broaden their reading horizons and discover exciting new book adventures. Participants will have the chance to sample a variety of books in 5 minute time increments\, and when the bell sounds\, they can decide to bring the book home\, try another title\, or do both. Explore new authors\, genres\, and series that you might not have tried before. No more complaints of\, “I don’t have anything to read!” Plus we’ll have hot tea and delicious homemade goodies to sample! \nBook Menu:\nTravel around the world with a selection of fiction & non-fiction books from authors all over the globe. \nDessert Menu:\n• Bolo Polana – A popular Mozambican dessert\, this cake features ground cashews and cooked potatoes\, both of which come together to make an undeniably decadent cake. Bolo means “cake” in Portuguese\, and Polana is the name of a neighborhood in Mozambique’s capital city\, Maputo.\n• Irish Soda Bread – A rustic\, quick bread that uses baking soda as a leavening agent instead of yeast\, resulting in a dense\, hearty loaf with a crusty exterior and a soft interior packed full of raisins.\n• Banoffee Pie – This English dessert combines a crunchy graham cracker crust\, soft and sweet dulce de leche\, thick slices of fresh banana\, and a mountain of billowy whipped cream.
